Probable Ancestry of Simon Stacy [1]

John Stacy of Epping died in 1555. He married Isabell Unknown
Henry Wood, yeoman of Epping, died between 27 September 1574, when he made his will and February 1576/7, when it was proved. He married Joan Unknown. She died between 25 January 1591, when she wrote her will, and May 1592, when it was proved.

Thomas Stacy was probably born about 1550. He died in 1625. He married Sarah Wood by 1585.

Sarah Wood was baptized on 29 January 1562 in Epping. She died in 1620.

Simon Stacy of Bocking and Ipswich

Simon Stacy was born say 1594. He married Elizabeth Clarke on 22 November 1620 at North Weald Bassett, co. Essex. [1]

Elizabeth Clarke was born say 1597. She died, probably in Ipswich, before 29 March 1670, when her will was proved.

Simon Stacy was a proprietor of Ipswich in 1637. [2]

Simon Stacy of Bocking, co. Essex, clothier, and Elizabeth Clerke of Theydon Garnon, co. Essex, spinster and daughter of Stephen Clerke, yeoman, of same, obtained a marriage license on 6 November 1620. [2]

Elizabeth Stacy made her noncupative will a day or two before she died. She mentioned her sons Simon and Thomas, her daugher Sarah Buswell, her daughter Susanna French, her daughter Mary Mears and her daughter Ann. [2]

Children of Simon Stacy and Elizabeth Clark (order uncertain):

i. Elizabeth Stacy was born about 1624. She died in 1655, age 31. [3] She married William Adams. William died in 1659. [3]

William and Elizabeth's son William was a minister in Dedham. [3]

ii. Sarah Stacy was born about 1626. She probably married Captain William Buswell. [4] Sarah the widow of Captain Buswell died on 5 March 1708/9, age 82, in Salisbury. [5]

iii. Thomas Stacy married Susanna Worcester on 4: 8m: 1653 in Ipswich. [6]

Probable Ancestry of Elizabeth Clarke [1]

William Clarke of Theydon Garnon was born say 1490. He died between 10 October 1551, when he made his will and 10 December 1553, when it was proved.

Henry Clarke was born say 1530. He died between 10 July and 15 September 1575, when he made his will and when it was proved. He married first Ellen Archer, say 1557. She died shortly after 9 February 1558/9. He married second Joan Archer in late 1559, probably her sister.

Stepehn Clarke, the son of Joan, was baptized on 27 February 1565/6 in Theydon Garnon. He married first Elizabeth Unknown in, say, 1558. He married second Elizabeth Reynolds. She was born on 8 December 1607 in Theydon Garnon. She was buried on 16 February 1608/9 in Theydon Garnon.

iv. Susanna Stacy died on 12 February 1687 in Salisbury. She married Joseph French.

v. Captain Simon Stacy was born about 1636. According to his gravestone, he died on 27 October 1699, aged about 63. He married Sarah Wallis on 19 April 1659 in Ipswich. [7] Sarah was the daughter of Robert Wallis. [3] Sarah was born about 1637. According to her gravestone, she died on 21 November 1711, age 74. [3]

Simon was a freeman in 1668. He was representative to the general court in 1685, 1686, 1689 and 1690. [3]

vi. Mary Stacy married first Unknown Mears. She married Unknown Fitch before 13 February 1681/2.

vii. Ann Stacey died between 13 February 1681/2, when she made her will, and 28: 1m: 1682, when it was proved.

She left bequests to her brother Simon and her sister Sarah, his wife; her sisters Sarah Buswell, Susan French and Mary Fitch; her cousings Simon Adams, Rebecca Stacy, Ann French, Elizabeth Mears and William Adams. [2]
